Our mission is to be the fragrance of Jesus to those we feed and serve.
We want to improve the San Antonio community through each coffee and baked good we sell.
People are our passion, coffee is our front door, and ministry is our story.
THE TEAM
Hey there! From right to left we are Whitney and Clay Burkholder, owners of Pharos Coffeehouse.
Pharos originated from a team of four who were passionate about art, creativity, & people. They sought to share the heart of God with San Antonio's arts community.
Now Pharos has transitioned to us, the Burkholder's. We have the same vision, just a different art form. Currently I, Whitney, am a Culinary Institute of America attendee. My husband, Clay, is the River City Community Church's High School Pastor. Together, we seek to spread the love of God throughout the San Antonio community with our quality coffee & baked goods.
WHY "PHAROS"?
We aren't roasters...so, selecting our coffee was a pretty big decision. After researching and tasting, we settled on a roaster who not only had a great product, but an inspiring mission.
We proudly partner with TAG Coffee Roasters. They donate 50% of their profits to local San Antonio charities and seek to see San Antonio changed through coffee by Jesus.
"Pharos of Alexandria" was the first lighthouse ever built. As the 7th wonder of the world it was the most wondrous feat of mankind at its time second only to the pyramids. The lighthouse, "Pharos", was lit by a huge flame that signaled safety & home to those out at sea. As we all know, the purpose of a lighthouse is to bring in ships that were struggling to find the shore. Our hope for Pharos of San Antonio is that through the comfort of coffee and a great bite, we can offer hope and "home" to all who seek to find it.
